Ever since I got the Anova Precision Cooker Nano, I’ve been hunting for a perfect container. I’ve been using a pot, but after getting my hands on the Sous Vide Container, it’s been my go-to. The 12L pot features removable stainless steel dividers, and also comes with 15 vacuum bags and a pump.
- Comes in 7L, 12L, or 24L
- Polycarbonate material with temperature tolerance from -40 to 100 degrees Celcius
- Optional steel rack, vacuum pump, and reusable bags
While you can use a pot with your Anova cooker, this Sous Vide Container seems made for the Anova range. There’s a nice cut-out on the lid that fits the Anova perfectly, while also not leaving much gaps for evaporation. There are three sizes: Small (32.5 x 17.5 x 20 cm, 7L), Medium (32.5 x 26 x 20 cm, 12L), and Large (52 x 32.5 x 20 cm, 24L). My 12L Medium container is sufficient for most cuts of meats, such as 1kg of pork belly.
To keep your meat in place, the container (Medium and Large) comes with steel racks that hold them securely. You don’t have to worry about your sous vide packets floating to the top. You can also choose to buy the rack-less version, but I liked having a rack to hold my food in place. It also comes with three attachable metal dividers to help keep your food locked in.
The vacuum bag and bag included in this package are decent. The bags are reusable, but they seemed to become slightly cloudy and streaked after the third use. But you can buy more of these BPA free bags once you run out. The pump is manual, but easy to use. Just put it over the bag’s vacumn hole and pump away. You may accidentally suck out some juices while drawing out the air, but the seal is air and water tight once you’re done pumping.
The Sous Vide Container is a great buy to augment your Anova cooking. The clear case means you can easily see what’s going on (but the sous vide process means nothing much happens for a while). You can get it for S$98 for the full set (Medium), or S$53.30 for just the Medium container on Lazada.
